![]() ![]() I'm not here to tell you what abilities not to use, I'm here to help you make your dream characters work. Avernum: Escape From The Pit was the first spiderweb software game I have ever beaten, and the first time I beat the game, I did it on torment, with a party that had every single skill in the entire game, and I can readily say that the vast majority of the big no-no abilities are grossly undersold. The general verdict on these traits, spells, abilities and stats is only true from a min-maxer's perspective, and I'd just like to make one thing perfectly clear before we continue: Min-maxing is not, by any stretch of the imagination, necessary to beat the game and have fun doing it, no matter WHAT difficulty you are playing on.ĭon't believe me? Check my signature, I'm living proof of my basic thesis. Thus it's all but guaranteed that one or more of your imaginatively planned party members is, by this logic, dead weight, and you're about to go back to the drawing board. Hence, it's probably best to train every 2 levels. If you've read some of the other guides on this forum, you may have been told that half of the abilities, spells, traits, and even STATS in the game are not worth investing in. If you generate more skill points than you can allocate, you won't be able to commit changes. You can only allocate 3 points per skill at level 1 and 1 point per skill per subsequent level. At character creation, take the Nimble Fingers trait (without Tool Use) and reduce Tool Use by clicking where the reduce button would normally appear. ![]() Infinite skill points: Similar to infinite stats. Stats max out at 40 allocated points, although the automatic points that you get when you level up can push stats over 40. ![]() Then, at level 2, if you still have a stat at 1 and take its Improved trait again, you can reduce the stat infinitely and get infinite stat points. The trait (and any skill points used to unlock the trait) can be reallocated afterwards. However, by taking an Improved trait at character creation, t can be reduced to 1 and you will get a free stat point. Infinite stat points: All stats start at 2. ![]()
